Just when you thought things couldn’t get any more intense, here comes the month of August. The double 8’s of this month (August = 8, plus the year = 8) will have people grabbing for power and trying to overthrow anything or anyone who gets in their way—a little like an Easter egg hunt on steroids and psychedelics; you just know half the eggs will end up under your shoes. So watch your step, it’s a slippery slope.

When the number 8 shifts to the negative polarity it expresses itself as fear and anxiety. There will be an extraordinary level of anxiety on the planet this month, and as the stress level builds, people’s normal boundaries and sense of fair play will evaporate in the heat of the moment.

Speaking of heat, be aware of anything which has a thermostat. Don’t let the temperature rise in your car, home, or mechanical devices. There will be a tendency for things to explode, and this will be happening in the realm of nature as well.

My goodness, a rather grim forecast so far! Well, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and let’s see how to get there. First, we need to get past the thought, “Why is everything falling apart? This is so unfair.” It does seem unfair when we are challenged by circumstances that may be out of our control, and yet this is exactly how we are going to move past the root cause of our limitations.

There is a crippling behavior pattern called “learned helplessness.” It is caused by a dynamic in our childhood where we were not allowed to help ourselves and break free of an undesirable situation. Our power was taken away. This may have gone on for years, thus creating the imprint, “There’s just no hope, I can’t do it.”

Now, in your adult life you have the same limiting belief, and it is a total lie. August forces us to deal with these limiting lies, and break free. It is all about power, and number 8 represents power. Who took your power, and how are you going to get it back? You can’t get your power back without having energy, and number 8 also represents the Pranic Body, the realm of our life force vitality.

Now is the time for pranayam or intense aerobic exercise for 11 minutes daily. The Basic Breath Series isbe aware that not everyone out there has the same yogic skill set as ourselves. We must be keenly aware of our environments, and how people are behaving within the scope of our field. It will take precious little to “tick someone off,” and the result could be surprisingly intense if you are in their emotional line of fire. Again, one of my favorite Tibetan quotes is: “The best armor is to stay out of range.”

As that which is no longer working on planet Earth spins into a death spiral, know that new life and opportunities always come after a clearing. We need to try and suspend judgement as to the nature of the unfolding events, and hold a place of prayer for human evolution. Through the connective psyche of our positive intention, we can have a profound effect at this time.

Further fueling the fire is a unique configuration in the Heart calculation. Our deepest abandonment issues will be coming up this month. This is because the Transformer number for the Heart is a 2, which represents relationships and the “Longing to Belong.” Wherever the longing to belong went wrong, that is where we will be feeling the pinch. Because the Base number for August “Zero’s out” (8 month - 8 year =0), this pain will approach agonizing proportions.

The experience will sound something like this: “I so came through for you, why didn’t you love me back?” And then watch the fur fly as people feel as if they can no longer tolerate the pain of indifference felt from this rejection.

Right now, if you don’t have enough energy, you can’t get out of this rut. You will be spinning your wheels endlessly in a cycle of despair. “Prana Up!” and give yourself the emotional loft to fly above the fray of it all.

We must end on a high note, and the good news is that through this karmic catharsis we can emerge on a new level of our potential. We always admire the character in the movie who overcomes an intense challenge, and we all are now starring in the feature film, “Mission Totally Possible.” The new land is just past the emotional curvature of this month, so a little faith can go a long way.
