Indigenous Midwives Empower Birth

Indigenous Midwives Empower Birth

Life Long Acts of Service that help women and children worldwide

This project focuses on capturing and preserving the stories and histories of indigenous midwifes throughout the world by sharing the vast knowledge these women carry.  It’s intent is to remind women of their innate ability to give birth naturally, and to honor and inspire midwifes to remember their roots.  In this short video you will be introduced to Midwifes from the Himba Tribe of Namibia, Africa and the Yawalapiti Tribe of Brazil.  These women work tirelessly to serve their communities in a very humble and profound way yet, their work goes unrecognized. In some cases they are in danger of being abolished and can be persecuted because it is believed by the society at large that what they practice belongs to the mainstream medical model.
Your support will help empower midwives and natural birth, and to help preserve this sacred practice.
